Freelancer or agency: how to choose

Compare responsibility, skills, capacity and continuity before choosing by the apparent size of the proposal's provider.

Identify who plans and who delivers

Ask who will understand the business, design the solution and develop the project. The sales contact may not execute the work. Understanding the structure helps establish how decisions and questions will be handled.

An independent professional can provide direct contact and clear responsibility. An agency may bring together different specialisms. Neither model guarantees quality or capacity on its own: confirm the people and resources actually assigned to your project.

Look for evidence and clear limits

Review relevant work on desktop and mobile and ask about the provider's contribution. Client photography, a purchased theme and custom development are not the same thing. A specific explanation is more useful than a generic promise.

Request written scope, revision rounds, exclusions and dependencies. Who supplies content? How are changes approved? What support exists after handover? Timing should reflect the work and agreed validations.

Questions for the proposal

Choose a solution that fits the project's size and needs. A simple request need not pay for a larger structure, while work that requires extra capacity should not ignore it.

  • Who is responsible and how do we communicate?
  • Which skills are included and which are external?
  • How are content delays and scope changes handled?
  • Who owns the domain, accounts, licences and content?
  • What documentation and access do I receive at handover?

How it works at JCC

You work directly with me, José Carlos, with scope defined before proceeding. I show completed projects and explain what I can deliver. The free initial assessment establishes fit without a commitment to commission the work.
